Prince Henrik of Denmark’s First School Day

This Morning, Prince Henrik of Denmark (the younger) along with his family met the press in honour of his first day of school.

Prince Henrik is attending the private Catholic school, Sisters of St Joseph, just a short distance from his home. To help ease them in, the new students were only required to attend for two hours on their first day, and could bring their parents along with them – Henrik was accompanied by Joachim and Marie, and his little sister. Nevertheless, the young royal came prepared, setting off with a large backpack.

“I have a pencil case and a lunch bag in my schoolbag,” he told the waiting press. “I like arithmetic the best.”

Crown  Princess Mary held a meeting with the foundation Princess Mary, the royal palace in Copenhagen. The princess met a German doctor involved in the fight against violence against women. The two women talked about the particular Advice for Life project that helps women victims of domestic violence.

The Norwegian Royal Family visited Vardøhus Fortress in Vardø.

The Norwegian Royal Family today stopped in Vardø, in the county of Finnmark in northern Norway, as part of their private summer holiday.

On the trip were Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Crown Prince Haakon, their children Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus, as well as King Harald, Queen Sonja and their daughter Princess Märtha Louise, her husband Ari Behn and the couple’s three daughters, Leah Isadora Behn, Emma Tallulah Behn and Maud Angelica Behn.

 When asked about the reasoning behind of the visit to Vardøhus Fortress, the King said,“We can’t just sit back and tell them about history. We have to show it to them, otherwise it gets too boring for the grandchildren”

The family posed for photographs in front of the statue of Haakon VII that is located on the grounds of the fortress.
