Sofia Hellqvist Weds Prince Carl Philip of Sweden in Ida Sjöstedt

Sofia Hellqvist, now Princess Sofia of Sweden, wed Prince Carl Philip of Sweden at The Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday.

The bride’s wedding dress, in three shades of white, was created by the Swedish designer Ida Sjöstedt. The dress is made from silk crepe overlaid with Italian silk organza. Couture lace made by José María Ruiz was applied to the dress and the train was hand-cut and then hand-stitched in Ida Sjöstedt’s atelier in Stockholm.

The veil in thin bridal tulle was also hand-embroidered with sheer cotton lace.

The tiara is a gift from The King and Queen to Princess Sofia.

The bride carried a cascade style bouquet of garden roses with a traditional sprig of myrtle from Sofiero. The flowers were in shades of cream and coral.

The Dress: The Crown Princess’s bridal gown was the result of a collaboration between the bride, designer Ove Harder Finseth and seamstress Anna Bratland. The gown was of thick silk crêpe and soft silk tulle, custom-dyed ecru. The skirt was flared with a two-metre-long train, inspired by the gowns of Queen Maud.
The Tiara: The bride’s tiara was a gift from her new in-laws, King Harald V and Queen Sonja. Made in 1910, the diamonds in the tiara form 23 floral rosettes set in platinum and yellow gold.
 The Bouquet:The idea for the bridal bouquet was developed in close cooperation between the bride and Aina Nyberget Kleppe, the general manager of the florist Passiflora A/S in Oslo. The bouquet was made up of rosary vine (Ceropegia woodii), Wanda orchids (a Phalaenopsis orchid), hydrangeas, roses in pink and mauve tones, bear grass, beads and metal threads.

 The Dress: Italian design house Valentino Couture was behind the cowl-necked, long-sleeved gown made of ivory Mikado silk. The fitted gown flared at the waist with a five-metre train inset with panels of embroidered lace. A silk tulle veil was hand-embroidered with a floral motif.
The Flowers: The bride’s bouquet was created by the florists to Soestdijk Palace. The cascading bouquet was composed of white roses, gardenias, and lilies of the valley. The Beurs van Berlage, where the civil service took place, was decorated with 3,000 yellow orchids, 3,000 blue Hyacinths and 4,000 blue Delphiniums. The canopy outside of the Nieuwe Kerk was 13 metres wide, 6 meters deep and 4 metres high and was decorated with 6,500 assorted white flowers, including roses, hydrangeas and baby’s breath.
 The Jewellery: The diademe came from the jewellery collection of the Dutch royal family. The five diamond star tiara originally belonged to Queen Emma, while the diamond earrings originally belonged to Queen Wilhelmina.
